Call for proposal TEN-telecom 2000/2

On 20 October the European Commission put out call for proposals under the TEN-telecom programme 2000, to be allocated from the 2001 budget.

The TEN-telecom programme supports projects related to generic services and applications using trans-European telecommunications networks

TEN-telecom is a three dimensional programme in the fields of multimedia applications, telecommunications networks (fixed and mobile) and of general services. This call covers generic services in:

    1. Education & training
    2. Cultural heritage
    3. Applications & services to SMEs
    4. Transport & mobility
    5. Environment & the emergency management
    6. Health & consumer protection
    7. City and regional Information networks – as a combination of projects mentioned above
    8. New work methods & services for the job market – NEW

TEN-telecom acts as a facilitator for getting access to the marketplace allowing projects to deploy ideas in a commercial environment by:

1. bridging the gap between research results and emerging technologies, and the market, in areas of general interest

2. supporting market validation for new services based on Trans-European telecommunications networks

3. exploiting the global (trans-European) dimension of these applications and services

TEN-telecom supports two different types of contract:

Market validation projects: cost-based projects – co-funding of business plan and market validation up to 50%

Market deployment projects: deliverables-based – direct grants, interest rebates, contributions to guaranty fees and risk capital participation up to 10%

The indicative budget is 33.5 MEUR, deadline for proposals 29 January 2001, by 4 p.m.

In addition TEN-telecom launches a Call for Experts. Closing date: 12 December 2001.
